TV One‘s new series, “Unsung Hollywood” puts the spotlight on some of our favorite scene stealers. Tonight’s episode features actor Robin Harris, whose comedic chops gained him roles in the hit movies “I’m Gonna Git You Sucka,” “Do the Right Thing,” and “Harlem Nights.” His classic role as Pops in “House Party” solidified him as everyone’s favorite movie dad.

Harris was born in Chicago in 1953. He ran track in high school and received a scholarship to Ottawa University. While in school, he started to work on his comedy and began his comedy career in 1980 at the Los Angeles Comedy Store.

Harris’ movie, “Bebe’s Kids,” was based of his comedy routine, and it was meant to be a live feature film, but Harris passed away before filming. He died on March 18, 1990 of a heart attack after performing at the Regal Theater in Chicago.
