Y’all remember the reggae artist Collie Budz? He had that infectious song back in 2007 called “Come Around” that was talking about smoking some herb. Well, he’s back with a new sound and new record deal.

After going on a six-year hiatus, Collie Budz returns to music with a new record deal with super producer Salaam Remi. Budz is signed to Remi’s Louder Than Life imprint which is a joint venture with Sony Music. The Bermuda native is currently working on a new album for his new label. Having a fresh start seems to be the theme with Collie Budz because along with the new deal, he is making music with a new sound. Gone is the reggae sound that blended traditional reggae with hip-hop. In its place is a more pop friendly sound with a reggae overtone.

The prime example for Collie Budz’s new sound is his single “Light It Up.” The song finds the artist having a great night. He feels like the king of the world and wants to celebrate life with those closest to him.

Check out the song and the video below.
