Facebook looks to kept themselves afloat amongst all the new apps on the scene with the announcement of Slingshot — a new photo and video sharing app. It’s very similar to Snapchat; it lets users share everyday moments with groups of people using this app.

The way it works is the user will not be able to receive a “shot” unless they “sling” one back to the sender so they can see the photo or video. Photos and videos can be shared with just one person or it can be shared with a group of friends with the ability to adjust text and color.

According to the team responsible for the design at Facebook:

We’ve enjoyed using snapchat to send each other ephemeral messages and expect there to be a variety of apps that explore this new way of sharing,’with slingshot, we saw an opportunity to create something new and different: a space where you can share everyday moments with lots of people at once.

The app is currently live and available for both iPhone and Android users for free. Download here.
