Cheryl Boone Isaacs heard the cries over this year’s diversity-lacking Academy Awards nominations, including the snubbing of Ava DuVernay‘s film, Selma. Does the organization have a problem recognizing diversity? Isaacs, an African-American woman, responded:
“Not at all. Not at all. The good news is that the wealth of talent is there, and it’s being discussed, and it’s helpful so much for talent — whether in front of the camera or behind the camera — to have this recognition, to have this period of time where there is a lot of publicity, a lot of chitter-chatter.”
Now we know that question was more directly related to the lack of noms for Selma, but we’ll just let her rock with the blanket statement that took a couple of laps around the circle to get to her answer… no?
