N.Y. Prison Escapee Richard Matt Shot & Killed By Police, Accomplice Still On The Run
One of the two murderers who escaped from an upstate New York prison two weeks ago was shot and killed by officers on Friday. The other escapee is still on the run with authorities unable to confirm a location for him, although they believe he must be somewhere close to where they found his now-deceased accomplice, Richard Matt.
According to Reuters:
Richard Matt, a 49-year-old convicted murderer, was killed by U.S. Border Patrol officers after he was spotted in a wooded area in the town of Malone, the New York State Police said.
Police were still combing the vicinity for Matt’s accomplice, David Sweat, a 35-year-old who was imprisoned for killing a sheriff’s deputy.
The convicts made their great escape on June 6th and the subsequent investigation has since involved over one thousand officers. Story developing…
