UPDATE: De’Andre Johnson has been charged with misdemeanor battery stemming from a video of him punching a woman in the face at a Tallahassee bar, according to Mic. Following the July 24 events, Johnson has been removed from the Florida State University team “effective immediately.”

Footage of Florida State University freshman quarterback De’Andre Johnson punching a woman in the face was released today, leading to several battery charges lodged against him, reports the Tallahassee Democrat.

The 19-year-old was accused of punching a woman in the face at a Florida bar last month. The two engaged in physical contact while pushing to get a drink at Yianni’s nightclub on June 24.

State Attorney Willie Meggs charged Johnson with misdemeanor battery after viewing the footage. The woman, whose black eye was still visible after attending court on June 30, suffered bruises near her left eye, swelling of the left cheek and upper lip, and a small cut near the bridge of her nose.

Meggs says she still wants to press charges against the player.

“She’s a good witness and she wants to testify,” Meggs said. “She’s a little nervous about it.”

Jose Baez, the same lawyer who helped Casey Anthony obtain an acquittal in 2011, will represent the freshman, telling reporters he “would investigate the accusations against Johnson thoroughly.”

FSU suspended Johnson from the team indefinitely for violating the school’s athletic department policy in light of the incident.
