While it doesn’t have the dramatic flair of the manufactured controversial showdown between Kanye West and 50 Cent from a few years ago, today’s releases – most notably Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3 and Raekwon’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Pt. II heralds a showdown between glitz and grit, boardroom braggadocio and street knowledge and old versus…well, old.
(Remember, both of these guys are touching 40, which in the young man’s person’s game that is rap, is ancient.)
And with both albums in stores today, September 8, 2009, the choice is for who will rule the charts next week lies within your wallet. So who will it be? Jay-Z or Raekwon? Both? Neither?
