The Roots drummer and bandleader Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson admitted he was working on a secret project with one half of The Throne, Jay-Z. Thompson wouldn’t get into the specifics of the project. He did say he was at the opening of Shawn Carter’s 40/40 Club in New York City because he was taking a break from being in the studio with the rap mogul. Fans will get a taste of what the two have been working on in the upcoming weeks.

“Basically, Jay’s a friend. I went there and it was hectic,” ?uestlove commented. “He and I are actually working on a secret project, so I was kind of taking a break from working with him and he was just like, ‘Come by the opening.’ So I came. So we’re doing something real big in the next few weeks.”

Whatever this secret project is, we can’t wait for it! Jay-z and ?uestlove making music together is some hip-hop fans’ dream come true. We’ll have to wait and see if it lives up to the mounting hype.
