Nicole Beharie isn’t one to shy away from controversy.The film SHAME, which focused on the sexual addiction of successful business executive, made headlines for its provocative subject and on screen nudity. Beharie, who plays the lead character’s love interest, was attracted to the role of Marianne because she was “someone more modern and interesting.”
Her professionalism was put to the test when her very first scene with co-star Michael Fassbender was a steamy love scene which required Beharie to strip for the camera. The classically trained actress (she attended Julliard) who made her screen debut in 2008’s “American Violet,” has also shared stage time with Mos Def and Jeffrey Wright on Broadway in “A Free Man of Color.”
Next up, Beharie plays a single mother who gets a second chance at love with Lance Gross in The Last Fall and as Jackie Robinson’s wife in the upcoming biopic 42.
