Famed television producer and former American Bandstand host Dick Clark died this morning of a massive heart attack. Clark was at St. John’s hospital in Los Angeles partaking in an outpatient procedure. Dick Clark had the heart attack following the procedure. There were attempts to revive the iconic television mogul, but they were unsuccessful.

Many knew Dick Clark’s health was in decline since he suffered a stroke in 2004. The aftermath of that stroke caused Clark to stop hosting his New Year’s Rockin’ Eve show. Ryan Seacrest took over full hosting responsibilities in 2006 while Dick Clark only made an appearance every once in a blue moon. Besides the stroke he suffered, Dick Clark had been living with Type 2 Diabetes long before his 2004 stroke.

He leaves behind a wife Kari Wigton and three grown children.
