Lean On Me and Juice actor Jermaine Hopkins caught a lucky break.

Jermaine Hopkins hasn’t been in the limelight for a while. He returned to the public’s attention after being arrested for trying to buy 200 pounds of weed from an undercover cop in Arizona last December. Officers claim Hopkins had 100 pounds of the sticky icky in his car when he was arrested. Though the actor was facing five years in the slammer, he only received 30 days because he took a plea deal. Jermaine was sentenced to time served this past Tuesday–he spent 30 days behind bars when he was first arrested–so he got to leave Tuesday’s sentencing a free man. Hopkins will be on probation for three years.

In exchange for pleading guilty to marijuana for sale, prosecutors dropped the charge of illegal control of enterprise. The illegal control of enterprise is legal speak for organized crime, in case you were wondering. Jermaine spoke to TMZ and said, “I am so glad to put this legal battle behind me so that I can begin moving forward re-establishing my acting career.”

Jermaine Hopkins better thank his lucky stars, Jesus, or whoever he chooses to pray to because anybody else would have gotten the book thrown at them.
