Who is Al Horford’s wife? NBA baller Al Horford is married to Amelia Vega, a fellow native of the Dominican Republic best known for having won the title of Miss Universe in 2003. Just 18 at the time of her victory, Vega is the first and only Dominican woman to earn the coveted crown, and she’s since built a successful career that has gone well beyond mere modeling.

Vega, seen as one of the hottest NBA WAGs, married Horford, a center and power forward who has spent his entire pro career with the Atlanta Hawks, on Dec. 24, 2011.
When Al Horford married Vega, he got more than just eye-candy. The 28-year-old brunette is a talented actress who’s appeared in such films as “The Lost City” and TV shows as “Voces de America,” a reality program that aired on Telemundo. Vega has graced the cover of numerous magazines, as well as Universal Beauty—to date the only official Miss Universe book. Vega is also a singer, and in 2011, she released “Agua Dulce,” “a collection of sounds and nuances that allow the listener to get to know her a little more intimately,” according to her official website.
Al Horford has had plenty of success of his own. Born in the D.R. town of Puerto Plata, he played college ball for the University of Florida, where he won two NCAA titles. In 2007, he was picked third in the NBA draft, and in his rookie year with the Hawks, he made the NBA All-Rookie Team. He also made the league All-Star Team in 2010 and 2011. When Horford and Vega got married on Christmas Eve 2011, it came as a surprise to some friends and family members, as the couple had not announced their engagement. In a sense, of course, there was nothing surprising about the wedding—when you’ve got a gorgeous, multi-talented girlfriend like Amelia Vega, you put a ring on that finger, pronto.
